Generosity At Horizon
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea Brings Horizon Community Together
Last term, Horizon Christian School staff and students hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, raising funds in support of the Cancer Council through the Balaklava Lions Club’s local fundraising efforts.
The event reflected one of our school anchors, Nurturing Partnerships in Community, as students worked alongside staff to support an initiative that benefits services and research for individuals and families affected by cancer.
Every item available for purchase was prepared by students with the support of their teachers. For our Food & Hospitality students, the event also formed part of a practical business experience as they developed their own brands, created products, managed their stalls and handled sales throughout the morning.
It was pleasing to see students, families and community members attend the event, including representatives from the Balaklava Lions Club, such as Secretary Kossie Chegwyn. Thank you to everyone who attended, donated and supported the morning. Together, the school community contributed $2,014.47 towards the Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea campaign, helping fund research, prevention programs and support services for Australians impacted by cancer.
